Christmas is my favourite time of year... The lights, the food, the cosy moments with our little ones. But each year, I'm quickly reminded how quickly the season can slip into pressure and overwhelm... Mostly because of how much stuff there is...

We have somehow been taught that a 'magical' Christmas means more everything, more gifts, more dec

or, more plastic, more spending.

Honestly? It often leaves us more clutter, more stress and more mental load than actual Joy.

In the UK we throw away thousands of tonnes of plastic packaging, wrapping paper, and even brand new gifts every single year. What are we doing it for, truly? The more you think about it, the wilder it gets.

Why does overconsumption sneak in every year?

• We want the kids to have the best day ever.

• Social media tells us we're not doing enough.

• Sales pressure us into panic-buying... everything.

• Buying things gives us a quick dopamine hit and a sense of joy before the overwhelm and feeling of not doing enough creeps in again.

However, it is important to remember that our kids don't need piles of presents. They need connection, routine, safety, and a peaceful home.

I'm hoping for a simpler Christmas this year & I am hopeful to stick to the following:

• Thoughtful, small gifts

• Quality over Quantity

• Experiences instead of clutter

• Low-Tox, Eco-Friendly swaps

• Reusable Wrapping Paper

• Shopping Small Local

• Slower wintery mornings and less go go go

More Conscious Choices Creates a Calmer Home.

Something I am trying to remember alongside this is...

Our children won't remember how many presents they opened... They'll remember:

• How loved they felt

• How calm the days were

• How present you were

• The little moments, not the big purchases

Let's not overconsume, Let's choose calm over chaos.
